Iowa Health - Des Moines has launched a new website. As a leading central Iowa hospital system, Iowa Health - Des Moines provides exceptional services and care to all patients.
Wanting their website to provide the same outstanding experience as their hospitals and clinics, Iowa Health - Des Moines approached Blue Compass to recreate their three main websites: IowaHealth.org, JohnStoddardCancer.org and BlankChildrens.org.
The site features a very contemporary, open design with intuitive navigation that communicates Iowa Health - Des Moines' outstanding locations, services, clinics, physicians and experience.
To create a superb online experience, Blue Compass created several custom applications for the Iowa Health - Des Moines' websites:
- Custom homepage Flashes to share patient testimonials
- Our enhanced Content Management System was incorporated to allow the client to easily update each area of the site
- Custom designed micro-site pages that help bring prominence to certain services and display their own classes, events, and physician search - see Maternity; Weight Loss Surgery; Cardiac, Vascular, & Lung, and Orthopaedics
- Unique Find a Doctor/Find a Clinic search applications that not only integrate with an existing database, but provide Iowa Health - Des Moines with the ability to place infinite amounts of content, photos, videos, links, and much more onto each individual physician or clinic profile page. To provide quick information, a hover state was included over search results to help site visitors quickly retrieve phone numbers, addresses, and other pertinent information.
- E-commerce capable Classes and Events module allows classes/events to be placed within multiple event categories on any of three websites, enter in separate dates and locations without having to reentry the general class/event description multiple times, decide whether a class/event should or should not accept online registration, determine payment associated with registration, and so much more.
- Auto-complete service search box was created to help site visitors quickly narrow their search using familiar terms.
- Media Galleries allow any page on the site to showcase photos and videos.
- Designated navigation is placed on each service page so site visitors can quickly see only pages associated with the service they are interested in reviewing.
- Send a Card functionality that allows visitors to easily select, customize, and send a card to four different hospitals
- A Custom Form Tool that allows Iowa Health - Des Moines to create new forms whenever desired
Since Iowa Health - Des Moines has three websites that share information, to ease management of entries and content on each site, Blue Compass created an integrated Content Management System that allowed custom applications to span over all three websites. The most significant of these applications is the Classes and Events module.
As an admin of IowaHealth.org, you simply create a class in the Classes and Events module and assign the class to individual categories where you want the class to show up. When assigning the categories, you can go beyond the Iowa Health - Des Moines website and assign the class to show up on John Stoddard's website and/or Blank Children's website.
